Announcing the Winner of The 2018 Orison Anthology Award in Fiction!

Orison Books is pleased to announce that Richard Yañez has selected “He Might Have Owned a Pickup Truck” by Lawrence Cady as the winner of The 2018 Orison Anthology Award in Fiction from anonymous manuscripts. Cady’s story will be published in the 2019 volume of The Orison Anthology, and he will receive a cash award of $500.


We are also happy to announce the following finalists:

ABOUT THE WINNER

Lawrence Cady’s short stories have appeared in Other Voices, South 85 Journal, Fiction Southeast, The Literary Review, Natural Bridge, Portland Review, Cream City Review, and Roanoke Review, among other places. A graduate of University of Wisconsin–Madison and Portland State University, Cady studied creative writing with the inimitable Diana Abu Jaber and was awarded PSU’s Tom Doulis Graduate Fiction Writing Award in 2002. From 2003 to the present, Lawrence has served as managing editor for the peer-reviewed science journal Astrobiology (Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., New Rochelle, NY).
